Control the Controllables

Things that Inspired Me this Week

Country music isn’t my genre of choice, however I do enjoy it now and then. When I do listen to it, it’s usually some of the older stuff, the stuff that reminds me of my mom. Toby Keith always makes me think of mom, she loved him. May they both rest in peace.❤️

I bring up country music because I listened to a YouTube interview, while I was getting my workout in, with country artist Jelly Roll and Jay Shetty. I am always inspired by Jay Shetty’s podcast and this interview was no exception. Jelly Roll has an incredibly inspiring story to tell. If you have not heard it, I highly recommend you give it a listen! You can also find the interview on the Apple podcast app.

Control the Controllables

Lately I am having to remind myself of this phrase over and over again. So many things are out of my control that I am finding myself distraught about. I can feel myself giving my energy away. I am working to double down on “controlling the controllables” in my life right now. I know this is truly the only way for me to keep moving forward with inner peace and presence.

This phrase has been a staple in my life for a while, as well as in all aspects of my coaching; with my athletes and my private clients. When I feel things start to spiral, feel overcome by anxiousness or even just feel a little off, its almost always because I have diverted my energy to things beyond my control (but sometimes it’s menopause!🫣). When I bring my energy back to things within my control, a sense of calm and normalcy always returns (and yes, this helps with menopause too! 😜).

I wanted to share all the things that are within our own personal control as an inspiration to you and a reminder to myself.
