From My Heart to Yours: The Messy Middle

What Inspired Me this Week

I stumbled across the story of man who is no longer with us. Bob Hayes from Missoula, Montana. The video is only 20 minutes long. He was 89 when the video was made. It’s only been on YouTube a few months but I believe it was filmed in 2016. Stories like his are what I hope my story will be like someday. I only know he is no longer with us because I did a little digging, after watching the video, to see if by chance he was still alive. He died at age 91. A good long life he had. I hope you enjoy his story as much as I did.

Bucket List Item Checked Off

A jet boat ride in Hell’s Canyon for my birthday! What a crazy fun experience. 10/10 highly recommend! Pro tip - don’t wear your favorite hat. And if you go, could you look for mine? It looks like this⬇️🤣

The Messy Middle

Focusing on the result, counting the days until [fill in the blank], wishing for [fill in the blank] and when we get there, where ever or whatever "there" is, we start again. We all do it in some capacity. And it is hard not to at times.

Wishing, counting, focusing on the next thing. But what about the time in between?

The messy middle.

The majority of life is here, in the messy middle.

If you were to map out time spent at the result, at the finish, at whatever it is you achieved and compared it to the amount of time you spent in the messy middle, the two do not compare.

It would be similar to comparing the earth to the universe.

Insignificant.
The blink of an eye.
Small.
Teeny tiny actually.

The messy middle is life.

I am not saying don’t chase goals or look forward to things. Those things are part what makes life pretty cool too. But when we don't look down while we are in the messy middle, what's the point?

What’s the point?

From my heart to yours,

Keli💚
